Top Tips for Finding the Right Baby Gift

Traditional, modern, fun, useful, or engaging. These are all the questions we ask ourselves when thinking of what kind of a baby gift we want to buy. To help you find that perfect gift for the special little one in your life, here are a few top tips on finding the right gift:

Is it for a baby shower? If so, start by view the registry, this will let you know which items the parents need and which items they already have. Even if you know, you will deviate slightly from the list of options they provide it’s still a good idea to look. However, no matter what you choose it is important you get a gift receipt or have a way the parents might easily return the item if by chance they already have one.

If you’re not someone that likes the conformity of a registry try something more meaningful or classic. Classic gifts are something that end up as keepsakes for both children and parents to look back on and “coo” with memories. Think of items such as babies first teddy, and classic storybooks, but keep in mind that some gifts, although beautiful, can sit in cupboards so, think functional as well as classic.

Fictional gifts are a huge help to parents; whether it’s a stroller, changing table, rocker, cups, plates or play bins, these items can be used almost daily. A good thing to keep in mind is that the more significant items are sometimes token gifts from family or very close friends. If you think this is the gift direction for you, you might want to check in with grandma or auntie first to see if anyone has already purchased one of these items. Good questions to ask as well are: do they have a particle manufacture or brand name they like, how much space do they have for these items and is there a theme or color for the baby room?

Baby clothes are always a favorite for any baby gift. There is nothing easier than finding a sweet little onesie for that little one to wear. An excellent tip to remember is that most people at a shower or a birth will buy newborn clothes and that lovely little baby will only be that small for a short time. Consider buying something in the 3-6 month range to allow the baby to grow into the item and wear it a bit longer. No doubt the parents will be grateful for your foresight. Also, keep in mind that things that are difficult to get on and off or are hard to wash can be cute but cumbersome for parents.

“Soft” is always a good idea when it comes to baby gifts. Warm fluffy blankets, soft plush toys, swaddling blankets, bathing ropes, and towels. If this is something you interested in, try doubling up on these items by putting them together in a baby care kit.  You might even want to wrap them up with a bottle of wine, just for mom!

Finding the right gift can be overwhelming at times but to help you on your way it is always a good plan to have all those lovely gifts delivered right to your door for your ease and convenience, and remember happy shopping!
